About Ely

Qualifications
Education has been a driving force in my career, and I’ve worked hard to build a solid foundation of qualifications which include:
C2 Proficiency in English Certificate by The University of Cambridge
Prior to achieving C2 level, I successfully attained certificates for C1 Advanced and B2 First levels, showing a steady progression in mastery.
The C2 Proficiency Certificate demonstrates advanced communication skills and a strong grasp of grammar, both vital for effective teaching.
BTEC Education and Training Level 3 Award
This is a specialised qualification aimed at preparing individuals to teach adult learners, typically at the college level. It focuses on both the theoretical and the practical aspects of teaching. It includes a practical teaching component, where you teach a group of adults (who are also taking the course) on a different subject.
Teaching Assistant Level 2 Certificate NCFE
This course prepared me to be a Teaching Assistant.
Supporting English as an additional language
Endorsed Learning Programme by CACHE.
Two Years of Teacher Training at Instituto de Formación Docente
I completed 2 out of 4 years of Teacher Training (I have an incomplete certificate with all the subjects and the grades that I obtained). During those two years, I gained an in-depth understanding of educational strategies and methods, as well as knowledge on subjects such as psychology, pedagogy, and didactics. This training also included teaching practice at schools, allowing me to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world classroom settings.
MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses)
I have also completed a variety of online courses to enhance my knowledge and skills, including:
- The Bilingual Brain
- Teaching Methods and Strategies
- Teaching Online
- Learning and Memory

Teaching Experience
I love teaching Spanish as a private tutor. For me, a second language opens doors and expands the mind.
Before becoming a Spanish tutor, I gained valuable experience as a volunteer Language Assistant in secondary schools across Shropshire. This later led to a paid role as a Teaching Assistant, further strengthening my skills in education and student support.
I began working as a private Spanish tutor 10 years ago. Over the years, I have developed a deep understanding of the school curriculum and refined a method for teaching Spanish to adults—emphasising real-life communication scenarios and practical language use.
I also collaborated with a team of volunteer translators at Coursera for 5 years, translating online courses from English to Spanish. This work aimed to make education more accessible to Spanish-speaking learners worldwide.
